Centre High School hosted an invitational volleyball tournament Saturday.
The Lady Cougars lost two matches and won one in pool play, and did not advance. They were seeded fourth.
In Centre’s first match, fifth-seeded Herington defeated the Lady Cougars in two games, 25-15 and 25-20.
The Lady Cougars played eighth-seeded Hope in their second match and defeated the Lady Lions in two games, 25-19 and 26-24.
The final match was against Berean Academy, which defeated Centre in two games, 25-10 and 25-18, and won the pool.
In the semifinals, Marion defeated Herington and Little River defeated Berean Academy.
Marion won the championship by defeating Little River in two games. Berean placed third by defeating Herington in the consolation match.
All-tournament players were Julia Zeiner, Marion; Lindsay Hett, Marion; Whitney Gordon, Marion; Callie Cordell, Little River; Megan Stagner, Little River; and Janelle Rust, Berean Academy.
Solomon invitational
At the Solomon triangular Sept. 8, Centre finished 1-1.
The Lady Cougars defeated Wakefield, 17-25, 25-21, and 25-22.
Amanda Floyd, Carlye Simons, and Ellie Miller served for six points each. Simons was 20-of-25 in spiking and had five kills and one block. Allison Shields had 11 kills, and Anna Weber had six blocks.
Centre was defeated by Solomon, 25-12, 12-25, and 13-25.
After Saturday’s invitational, Centre’s record was 2-6.
