Centre High School golf team won an 11-team tourney at Herington April 6 by one stroke over second-place Council Grove.
Individually, Adam Matz finished second overall with a score of 77. Tyler Klenda finished ninth with a score of 86.
Other Centre scorers were Heath Hill 94, Jacob Jennings 94, Dylan Svitak 95, and Kodey Johnson 134.
“This was a good start for this season and, considering the windy conditions, I was pleased with the performance,” CHS Golf Coach Greg Wyatt said. “We know we have some work to do to improve and lower our scores as the season progresses.
“The first meet is always challenging but now we have a base score to work with and improve from there. Our ultimate goal is to get back to state.”
Team scores were Centre 351, Council Grove 352, Hillsboro 353, Marion 357, Halstead 358, Goessel 360, Sedgwick 364, Peabody-Burns 374, Herington 387, Inman 404, and Southeast of Saline 435.
