Centre has a good Friday

Staff writer

Centre boys and girls basketball teams both won home games Friday against Peabody-Burns.

After losing their first six games of the season, the Centre girls notched a second consecutive win by defeating Peabody-Burns 44-11.

Centre put the game out of reach quickly, building a 26-5 halftime lead.

Kate Basore led Centre with 12 points, followed by Shelby Pankratz with 11.

Boys get second win

After taking a 62-36 beating at the hands of the Solomon Gorillas the previous Tuesday, the Centre Cougars were happy to score a 40-29 victory Friday over the Peabody-Burns Warriors.

Cold shooting by the Warriors and aggressive defense by the Cougars contributed to the victory.

Peabody-Burns’ Clayton Philpott made two baskets at the outset but after a basket by Cole Svoboda and a 3-point shot by Cole Srajer gave the Cougars a 5-4 lead, Centre never trailed.

Srajer led scoring with 12 points, followed by Dylan Deines with 11.
