Staff writer
After having a combined superintendent/principal for all grades at Centre for several years, the school board at a special meeting Feb. 7 hired a principal for seventh through 12th grades for the 2018-19 school year. Superintendent Susan Beeson will be principal for pre-school through sixth grade.
Donald Raymer is a teacher and coach at Garden City school district. His position at Centre will be his first as a fully accredited principal.
Raymer will be career technology coordinator, helping students choose a career pathway for future success.
At Monday’s meeting, the board ratified Raymer’s contract, which includes a $69,500 salary and $2,000 in moving expenses.
He has a wife and three children.
The board approved a trip April 6 to 8 to Mount Rushmore for National Honor Society members. The district will provide transportation and lodging.
Beeson announced that Jennifer Montgomery was honored as Tri-County Educator of the Year on Monday at Herington Community Center.
School will be dismissed early March 1 to prepare for a forensics meet.
