Centre senior to attend medical forum

Centre High School senior Anna Weber will attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine July 21 through 30 in Houston, Texas.

She will join other high school students showing academic excellence, leadership potential, and interest in a career in medicine. Centre teacher Cindy Reidel nominated Weber.

She is planning to attend Bethany College this fall, pursuing a major in biology with a psychology minor. She wants to become a critical care/trauma nurse.

At the forum, students will be introduced to a variety of concepts in public health, medical ethics, research, and general practice.

Students participate in site visits to medical schools and clinical facilities.

Students will participate in a simulation where they are presented with a fictional patient’s case history and must diagnose and develop a treatment plan for the patient.

Participants will have the opportunity to visit medical school and clinical facilities.

They also will have the opportunity to hear and interact with leaders in the medical field.
