Centre students present Veterans Day concert

Staff writer

“I’ll always be an American, and I’ll always cry American tears.”

The Centre Junior-Senior High School Choir sang these words Friday during the Veterans Day concert at Centre High School.

Special guests ranged from a World War II veteran to a current service member.

The junior-senior high school band opened the program with the playing of “The Star Spangled Banner” and several other patriotic songs.

Jean Brunner directed the kindergarten class in singing, “Hello, Veterans,” and “Thank You, Veterans.”

Musical pieces by grades one through three centered on America. “We are all Americans, me and you,” and “We’re living in the heart of America,” they sang.

Grades four through six sang about being red and blue and white, loving America, and being upstanding citizens.

Guests were treated to cookies and punch following the service.

The program was directed by first-through-12th-grade music teacher Bethany Lewis.
