Children share Christmas past, present at church

Children at Marion Presbyterian Church brought a message of modern Christmas traditions stemming from the birth of a child in a humble setting about 2020 years ago.
The story began in the modern era, with Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, the hurry and scurry of Christmas shopping, decorating Christmas trees, and a visit from that jolly old gift-giver, Santa.
Then Santa sat down and talked with children about what Christmas is really all about and what happened that long-ago morning when a newborn Jesus was laid in a manger in Bethlehem.
Musical numbers included “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Oh, Christmas Tree,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “Away in a Manger,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” “This is Christmas,” and “Joy to the World.”
Amy Kjellin, Dani Lange, Chelsea Darrow, and Alisha Maserang coordinated the presentation.
“It was a resource we found online and we adapted it for our kids,” Kjellin said.
