CHS graduate named athlete of the year

Centre High School graduate Justin Garrard, 23, was named male athlete of the year after the 2010 Sunflower State games in Topeka.

Garrard won the 5-kilometer Governor’s Cup run as well as the 800-meter, 1500, and 3000 runs. He also participated in the 1500 race walk and placed third.

Garrard ran cross-country and track for Centre and Ottawa University where he was a two-time conference champion and a 2009 all-American in marathon running.

He currently is a graduate assistant for the cross-country and track teams at Ottawa University.

His parents are John and Sandra Garrard of Antelope.
