CHS track teams place fourth

Competing against Hillsboro, Moundridge, Halstead, and Canton Galva on April 10 at Moundridge, the Centre girls’ and boys’ track teams both finished in fourth place.

Theo Kassebaum finished first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.7 seconds. Cacey Simons placed first in high jump, with a leap of four feet, eight inches.

Ty Simons finished second in the 110 hurdles, at 20.4, and in the 300 intermediate hurdles, at 49.4.

Shelby Makovec finished second in the 3,200 with a time of 13:27.5. Brenna Shields finished second in the 400, at 1:09.1

Shocker Pre-state Pentathlon

Theo Kassebaum competed Thursday in the Shocker Pre-State Pentathlon at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

She placed ninth out of 15 girls that competed from around the state and was the only female competitor from a school smaller than 4A.

Her results were: 2. 100 high hurdles, 16.62; 11. High jump, 4-05; 10. Shot put, 22-10; 9. Long jump; 12. 800, 3:11.19.
