CJHS boys defeat Luckey, 36-28

Tyler Weinbrenner led his team to victory in his first game as football coach of Centre Junior High School. The team defeated Luckey of Manhattan, 38-28, at Cougar Field on Thursday.
Centre led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter after Kyle Methvin ran 34 yards for a touchdown. The conversion attempt failed.
Methvin scored two more touchdowns in the second quarter. Luckey scored three touchdowns and two extra points to take a 20-18 lead at halftime.
Centre held Luckey scoreless in the third quarter and gained another touchdown by Methvin to reclaim the lead, 24-20.
Methvin and Chad Mueller each scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter, for 12 additional points for Centre. Luckey added a touchdown and two extra points, but lost by eight points.
Methvin was Centre’s leading rusher with 217 yards. Mueller rushed for 58 yards.
