Classes to hold Old Settlers’ Day reunions

Marion High School classes of 1947, 1952, 1972, and 2002 have planned reunion activities for Old Settlers’ Day weekend.

Class of 1947

The class of 1947 will start its 70th reunion with coffee at 9 a.m. Sept. 30 at Anita Weber’s at 155 S. Freeborn St., where they also will be picked up to ride in the 11 a.m. parade.

Attendees are responsible for their own lunch in the park, but the class will have a reserved table. Class members can stay for afternoon programs and class introductions in the park.

Class of 1952

The 65th reunion of the class of 1952 will begin Saturday morning at the J.B. Miesse residence at Marion County Lake.

They will ride on a float in the 11 a.m. parade and have lunch in the park.

After being recognized at the park stage, they will have a picnic at the Hannaford cabin at Marion County Lake.

Class of 1972

The class of 1972, one of the bigger classes with 72 graduates, will celebrate their 45th class reunion beginning with a gathering at a classmate’s residence the evening of Sept. 29.

They will ride in the parade on Saturday. Those who stay for the afternoon will walk across the stage for class recognition at Central Park.

The day will conclude with an evening meal at Country Dreams Bed and Breakfast.

Class of 2002

The class of 2002 will ride in the Old Settlers’ Day parade Sept. 30.

They are planning a dinner at Marion County Lake for that evening.

Class of 1982

Old Settlers’ Day weekend will be celebrated by MHS Class of 1982 as its 35th reunion.

Classmates are encouraged to participate in the golf tournament at 11 a.m. Sept. 29 at Marion Country Club. The group will attend the tailgate and football game at Warrior Stadium, beginning at 5 p.m.

The class will board its float at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 30 at Wagon Wheel Express and ride in the parade.

Evening festivities will include a hog roast meal at 6 p.m. at Marion County Lake Hall, and a DJ will provide music as socializing continues into the evening.

Class of 1992

Riding in the Old Settlers’ Day parade, dinner, and an after-party are on tap for the 25th reunion of Marion High School Class of 1992 on Sept. 30.

Classmates will gather at 10:30 a.m. on Walnut St. to board the class float for the 11 a.m. parade.

Dinner will be at 6 p.m. at Marion County Lake Hall. Members should bring food and drink for themselves and guests. A grill will be available.

Festivities will close out with an after party at 11 p.m. at the home of Eric Soyez.
