Clerk returns to Centre after 12 years

Staff writer

When Marianne Kohman of Hope started her job Nov. 2 as the new Centre board clerk, it was sort of a homecoming. Kohman worked in the high school office for nine years and has a son who graduated from Centre.

She has had a variety of secretarial jobs in the 12 years she’s been gone.

“You need to multi-task to do this,” she said.

In addition to day-to-day personnel and business procedures, she provides updates to the board and organizes materials for board meetings. She also sends various reports to the state.

Kohman said the assistance of former clerk Peggy Falen has been invaluable. Falen will help with end-of-year items and to prepare a new budget this summer.

Kohman said her experience on the job has been positive so far.

“I like how I do different things and not the same thing every day,” she said. “Everyone I work with is nice and helpful.”
