Thursday: Organizational meeting for Central Station youth center, 7 p.m., Central Station, 1220 E. Main St., Marion. This meeting is open to the community. Key leadership roles need to be filled.
Marion City Library Poetry group meets at 7 p.m. at the library. The theme is Kansas, by Kansans or about the state. All poetry is welcome.
Friday: Kansas Day.
Marion Elementary School will have an assembly at 3 p.m. in the MES gym. Second graders will perform at 11:50 a.m. at Marion Assisted Living. First graders will perform at 2:10 p.m. at St. Luke Living Center.
Marion High School basketball games begin at 4:30 p.m. at Council Grove.
A catered meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion. Following the meal is a program — the portrayal of Olympia Brown, a Universalist pastor who toured Kansas in 1867, to gain support for the vote for women. Reservations are required.
