Great Plains Computer and Networking is back open after owner Lloyd Davies came to an agreement with Kansas Department of Revenue.

KDOR seized the business Aug. 26 for back taxes of more than $20,000 spanning from 2005. Davies said a resolution was reached the following day, and the business reopened Thursday.

“A lengthy dispute with KDOR came to a head on Tuesday when they unexpectedly seized the business,” Davies said. “We had been aggressively pursuing a resolution since last October and my lawyer and myself have been in constant contact with KDOR.”

Davies said because he was working with KDOR to resolve his tax problems, it was a surprise when the business was seized. KDOR said seizing businesses was the last resort after the owner could not be contacted and some repayment plan could not be settled.

Because of the short closure time, customer service was not interrupted.

Now that an agreement has been reached, Davies said he is anxious to continue supporting his clients as he has for the last 16 years.

“The support of the community and my clients, customers, and friends has been overwhelming,” he said. “I hope I can continue to merit their faith and support. We have a lot of work to do.”
