Candidates for the Republican Nomination for the 70th District in the Kansas House of representatives have spent $18,768 campaigning since Jan. 1.
Candidates filed their receipts and expenditures reports with the Kansas secretary of state’s office Monday.
Incumbent J. Robert Brookens, Marion, raised $12,803 in contributions for his campaign and spent $10,857. He received several contributions from statewide professional and trade associations.
Brookens received $1,218 of campaign contributions from residents of the district.
Challenger Cheryl Green, Rosalia, raised $14,206 and spent $7,911. She and her husband, Gerard, contributed $7,210 to her campaign.
Other than her household’s contribution, Green received $425 from residents of the district.
Candidates’ financial filings do not reflect any spending by third parties on the race.
