Volunteers are preparing a macaroni and cheese cookoff to raise awareness and funds for improvements to Central Park. The cookoff will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 27 in the Marion Community Center.
Organizer Jeanice Thomas said she doesn’t expect the event to bring in big bucks. The main goal is to highlight the importance of the park and encourage people to donate to the project, which includes construction of new bathrooms.
An entry size is a 9-by-12-inch pan, and entries do not need to be prepared on site. Winners will be selected by a panel of three judges, and trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers.
