Cosmetologist to come back to roots

Marion native Chassidy Carlson knew at a young age she wanted to be a cosmetologist.
“It’s always been a passion of mine,” she said.
Carlson is attending cosmetology school at Bellus Academy in Manhattan.
“I was already in Manhattan, attending K-State, and I only heard great things about Bellus,” she said.
After graduating from Bellus in August, Carlson will come back to her roots and work at Miles by Design in Marion.
“I wanted to move back to be closer to my family,” Carlson said. “Marion is where I want to eventually start and raise my family.”
She will be doing nails as well as offering cuts, color, perms, stylings, and skin treatments.
Miles by Design owner Karen Miles is excited for Carlson to join her team.
“I’ve known her for a long time,” Miles said. “She’s got a great personality, very creative, and talented, so when I found out she was going to school I was very interested in trying to get her back here.”
Carlson hopes to eventually open her own salon.
“I want to offer a unique day spa that people from out of town would drive to Marion to visit,” she said. “I would like to bring more people from the city to Marion for a peaceful day of relaxation.”
Her favorite part of cosmetology is the end results.
“Making someone feel as beautiful as she can is so rewarding,” she said. “I’m looking forward to being back around family and working with some really great people.”
