The Centre Lady Cougars emerged from pool play Saturday at their own invitational after defeating Rural Vista 25-9, 25-14, and losing to Marion 25-6, 25-14, during opening matches.
Centre played Herington for a chance at the championship game, winning the first set, 25-23, but losing 25-17 and 25-18 in the final sets.
They played Berean Academy for third place and lost, 25-21, 25-20.
Summer Espinoza was named to the all-tournament team.
Katie Marler was the leading server against Rural Vista and Marion, Emily Schlesener against Herington, and Espinoza against Berean.
Espinoza led at the net with 37 spikes. She had 14 kills and 4 blocks. Schlesener had 31 spikes, 13 kills, and 4 blocks.
Tuesday at Solomon
The team played two games at Solomon on Tuesday and lost both.
It lost the first match 25-23, 25-16. Centre was able to win a game in the second match but still lost 25-21, 17-25, 25-21.
The Lady Cougars will travel to Marion on Saturday for Marion Spikefest.
