Marion County Democrats met Saturday at Willy J’s Bar and Grill in Marion.

County chairman Eileen Sieger conducted the meeting during which reports on Medicaid expansion were given by Jackie Volbrecht and Margaret Wilson. Wilson and Sieger also spoke about meeting with Senator Moran’s legislative aide.

Martin Holler reported on new scholarship set up by county Democrats this year, in which five $100 scholarships were offered through county high schools. Five applications were received; each person will receive recognition at their school’s respective awards assemblies.

County Democrats also donated 389 pounds of food to the Marion County Food Bank and Resource Center at the meeting.

The next meeting will be at Willy J’s at 10 a.m. July 1.
