Commissioners did not take any action at the regular county meeting Monday, instead having a work session to meet with the head of each county department.
Most meetings centered on the status of each department and what they may need going forward.
At the conclusion of the meetings, commissioners discussed at length the possibility of adding a full-time information technology position to the payroll.
“I think it would eliminate some problems and help things run smoother,” Chairman Roger Fleming said. “I believe it’ll make the county more efficient.”
Commissioners agreed that many issues within departments begin with the technological aspect of employee’s jobs, and it would be a benefit to have someone always on hand to help with those problems.
Commissioner Dan Holub said it would also help training for new software programming.
“It’s something we’d have to work into the 2015 budget,” Fleming said.
Lake could get disc golf course
Park and Lake Superintendent Steve Hudson said the lake could receive a disc golf course on the south side where a golf course once was designed to be.
“That’s an under-utilized portion of the lake,” Holub said.
Hudson also said the lake would again host a bluegrass concert and chili cook-off this year, in addition to receiving requests for another paddleboat race and MOPS run.
