- According to engineers’ estimates, a construction and demolition landfill proposed by Rocky Hett could cost between $90,000 and $120,000 to get opened, Schmidt said. A savings of about $40 per ton would require 3,000 tons to makeup that difference. The county sent 2,200 tons of construction and demolition waste to landfills in 2008.
- Marion County Transfer Station sent 564 tons of waste to Butler County Landfill in February. That included 498 tons of municipal solid waste and 57 tons of construction and demolition debris. The cost was $36.75 per ton for fuel, driver wages, and tipping fees. The county has sent 1,154 tons of waste to the landfill through February.
