County sales tax revenue up 21.6 %

Marion County sales tax receipts in April were $47,303. Marion County Commission reviewed the information Friday.

That is an increase of 18.5 percent from April 2010. Total sales tax receipts for 2011 through April were $214,561, up 21.6 percent from the same period in 2010.

In other business:

  • Cooperative Grain and Supply of Hillsboro will sell 6,550 gallons of fuel to Road and Bridge Department for $22,487. Cardie Oil Company of Tampa bid $22,755.
  • A resolution was approved appointing Dan D’Albini as emergency management director. The county hired D’Albini on March 14, but the resolution was required by other agencies.
  • Construction on a bridge on 240th Road near the Chase County line will probably begin in August, Road and Bridge Superintendent Jim Herzet told the commission.

The next commission meeting will be Monday.
