Criminal cases

This information was the most current on file in criminal division of Marion County District Court as of April 19. Information often is not available until more than a week after hearings. Journal entries must be checked by the defense, prosecution, and judge before they are filed.

Tyrell J. Thiessen; diversion agreement filed April 12 on a charge of misdemeanor theft; Thiessen must pay a $125 diversion fee and $160 surcharge, write a letter of apology to Alco Discount Store, complete 10 hours of community service, and remain in good standing at school. If the diversion is successfully completed in six months, the case will be dismissed.

Todd Michael Beneke; sentenced April 2 to a 12-month controlling sentence in county jail with 67 days credit on a motion to revoke probation; placed on probation for 24 months, concurrent with two other cases.

Beneke; sentenced April 2 to a 12-month controlling jail sentence for misdemeanor theft; placed on probation for 24 months concurrent with two other cases; ordered to pay $110 restitution and $160 surcharge.

Jean Luc Taylor, 116 N. Jefferson, Hillsboro; sentenced April 2 to a 12-month underlying prison term with 12 months probation on a conviction for criminal threat and ordered to pay $195 court costs, $200 DNA database fee, $120 correctional supervision fee, $700 BIDS attorney fee, and $45 booking/fingerprint fee, ordered to submit a biological sample and undergo a domestic violence assessment, given two days credit for time served; sentenced to six-month underlying jail term with 12 months probation on a conviction of battery; ordered to have no contact with Megan Pauls except to set up child visitation; must complete 50 hours of community service; must submit to drug and alcohol testing, any failed or refused test or admission of use will result in a 48-hour jail commitment.
