State champions’ amazing run ends in Iowa

The state-champion Cottonwood Valley League 13-year-old All-Stars were eliminated Monday afternoon at the Midwest Plains regional tournament in Burlington, Iowa.

The All-Stars were off to a promising start Saturday evening against the Nebraska champs, defeating them 17-9.

Their next game, against Missouri, wasn’t as easy. CVL lost 5-1 Sunday afternoon.

The game Monday afternoon wasn’t much better, with the CVL losing to team from Minnesota, 11-7.

The double-elimination tournament saw eight teams compete in the regional tournament.
