Darlene J. Gutsch, 77, of Burdick died Sept. 13, at Herington Municipal Hospital.
She was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Marion, the daughter of William and Grace (Nienstedt) Richmond.
A funeral was Sept. 17 at Burdick United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jay J. Beck officiating. The family received visitors Friday and before the service. Burial was at Lincolnville Cemetery.
She was a bookkeeper for Paragon Clothing Company in Herington for many years. She then worked at the ASCS office in Marion until she retired. In retirement, she wrote about the goings-on in Burdick for the Marion County Record.
She was a member of Burdick United Methodist Church and served on numerous church boards. She was active with the Burdick Council of Clubs and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Colberg-Smith American Legion Post No. 429 Auxiliary. She graduated from Marion High School in 1949.
She married Charles W. Gutsch on June 13, 1954, at Valley United Methodist Church in Marion. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald Richmond, and her parents.
She is survived by a son, Perry Gutsch of Herington; a daughter, Gayla Deines of Ramona; two sisters, Dorothy Rindt of Wichita and Doris Winkler of Marion; and five grandchildren.
