Deines family holds reunion

The family of Phillip Deines Sr. celebrated its 29th annual reunion Oct. 12 at Lincolnville Community Center. The family of George Deines, of the Chris Deines Sr. family, hosted the event.

Leona Manhart of Marion celebrated her 90th birthday, hosted by her family, Jeannie and Lyie Gillett of Hillsboro, Jim and Nanette Manhart of Ashville, North Carolina, Jeremy, Kristy, Avery, and Rylan Mohn of Olathe, and Kyle and Ann Gillette of Winfield. Four generations of girls attended.

Also having four generations of girls were Lizetta Stout of McPherson, Jennifer Martinson of Victoria, and Luke and Evelyn Bogner of Gardner.

Others attending included: Brian Stout, and Doug and Carly Stout, all of McPherson; Merle Stout, Vickie and Lance Gill, Laura Wilson, Tamika and Heather Brown, Alexis Wilson, Harley Harder, Diane and Larry Howser, Kevin Stout and Donald Deines, all of Abilene; Gerald and Janet Riffel, and Debbie Coup, of Hope; Mervin and Leona Deines, and Jeff Deines, all of Ramona; Weldon Deines of Heringon; Irmagene Goodman of Marion; Gallard and Regina Albright, Leon and Darlene Deines, Anita Albright, David and Annetta Albright, Brent Albright and Angie Holaugen, and Gene and Imogene Scheikofsky, all of Wichita.

The Deines family history book donated and written by Mary Lee Peckenschneider was given to the newest family member, Evelyn Bogner, born March 20, 2014.

October birthdays for Vickie Gill, Jim Manhart, and Anita Albright were celebrated. It was Gill’s 60th birthday.

The Phillip Deines ancestors sailed from Russia to Mexico and walked to the Russell, Kansas area around 1899.
