The expiration date for filing applications for emergency disaster loans by farmers and ranchers in Marion County is Feb. 23.

Those needing farm credit because of drought, excessive heat, and high winds from Jan. 1, 2011 through Feb. 23, 2012 and who think they are eligible for Farm Service Agency assistance, should make their applications at the FSA county office, 3020 W. 18th Ave. Suite A, Emporia.

To be eligible for an emergency disaster loan, an applicant must operate a family-size farm or ranch, must be unable to get credit elsewhere, and must have suffered a qualifying physical and/or production loss from the disaster.
