Donna Windsor

Donna Joan (Matz) Windsor, retired Indian Guide/Peabody Housing Authority administrator, born May 7, 1936, in rural Peabody, passed away Aug. 22, 2013, at Newton Medical Center.

Visitation was 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at Baker Funeral Home, Peabody with inurnment at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody and a memorial service at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Central Christian Church, Wichita.

For Donna, family was everything. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren, and was excited because recently she became a great-grandmother. Donna had a life-long faith that was apparent to all who met her.

Music was a special part of Donna’s life and she shared this passion by serving as a youth church choir director for nearly 30 years. She loved gardening and life on the farm. She will be greatly missed by many family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, William and Mabel Matz; brother, Allen “Bud” Matz; and sister, Dorothy Wentz.

Survivors include her husband, Warren; son, Randy (Deb) Windsor of Peabody; daughter, Elaine (Kevin) Dhuyvetter of Manhattan; sister, Adeline Spangler of Pretty Prairie; sister-in-law, Sally Matz of Peabody; grandchildren, Ryan (Michelle) Windsor of Westminster, Colo., Jana Windsor, and Traci Windsor (Todd Woodruff), all of Peabody, Dustin Dhuyvetter of Wichita, Ethan Dhuyvetter and Katie Dhuyvetter, both of Manhattan; and great-grandson, Knox Woodruff of Peabody.

Memorials have been established with the Encouragers Sunday School Class at Central Christian Church and The Hub (Peabody Teen Center).
