Dorothy Elnora (Waner) Hoffman

MARION — Dorothy Elnora (Waner) Hoffman, 82, passed away April 1, 2013, at St. Luke Hospital in Marion, Kan. She was born in Florence, Kan., on April 28, 1930, the daughter of Andy M. and Frances (Garrison) Waner.

On Jan. 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to Roger Hoffman from Hancock, Maryland.

Dorothy was a loving wife, mom and grandma with a lifelong love for gardening. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish, attending St. Patrick’s Church in Florence and St. Mark’s Church in Marion. She was active in St. Patrick’s Altar Society where she was president for many years. Her faith was very important to Dorothy and she always kept a special place in her heart for St. Patrick’s Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roger; a sister, Ruth Garland; and three brothers, Paul, Robert, and John Waner.

Survivors include her three children, son Wayne Hoffman and his wife Wendy of Marion, and daughters Cindy Pierce and her husband Rick of Mico, Texas, and Dawn Buchanan and Mike Carr of Marion; two brothers, Vernon Waner and his wife Henrietta of Marion and George Waner and his wife Wanda of Junction City; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Holy Family Parish-St. Patrick’s Church in Florence, with Fr. Darin May presiding. Interment was in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Florence.

A memorial fund has been established for Mt. Calvary Cemetery Cross Restoration. All gifts should be made payable to Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion, KS 66861.
