Dorothy Yost

Dorothy E. Yost, 82, of Galva died Thursday at her home. She was born Jan. 25, 1932, in Antelope to Archie Boyd and Helen (Loveless) Dody.

She was a retired restaurauteur and had lived in Galva since 1983 when she moved from Hillsboro.

She married Orval “Smiley” Schmidt. He preceded her in death in 1974. She later married Martin Yost on March 8, 1983, at Cunningham. He preceded her in death in 2005.

She was a member of Galva United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary of Hillsboro and VFW Auxiliary of Marion.

She is survived by five daughters, Sherry Wright, Sandy Friesen, and Vicki Hiebert, all of Hillsboro, Cindy Schick of Bunker Hill, Ill., and Kimberlee Williams of Galva; a stepson, Michael A. Yost of Nickerson; two stepdaughters, Jenee Enochs and Renee Carlson, both of McPherson; three brothers, Bob Dody of Fort Collins, Colo., and Don Dody and Keith Dody, both of Newton; three sisters, Jean Swanson of Newton, Rosemary Garrard of Antelope, and Susie Bernhardt of McPherson; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first and second husband and a brother, Jim Dody.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Galva Christian Church with the Rev. Sharlan Graber and Pastor Tripp Edwards officiating. Inurnment in Marion Cemetery will be at a later date.

Visitation was Tuesday at Olson’s Mortuary, Canton.

Memorial funds have been established with Galva United Methodist Church and Hospice of Reno County.
