Dwain Neustrom

H. Dwain Neustrom, 68, died Saturday at this home in Burdick.

A worker at Herington Hospital until he retired in 2008, he previously was a systems operator for Iowa Beef Packers, Emporia, and delivered Coca-Cola products in Council Grove, Herington, and Marion.

He also was commander of American Legion Post 147 in Burdick in 1978 and ’79.

Rosary will be at 7 tonight at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington.

Mass will be celebrated by Father Mark Wesely at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Herington.

Military inurnment will be later at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.

Born June 24, 1943, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., to Harold E. and Maxine Ruby (Harp) Neustrom, he married Patricia Uriell on Dec. 1, 1974.

She survives, as do daughter Christina Weidenheimer of Burnsville, Pa.; son Jacob Castillo of Topeka; sisters Carolyn Phillip of La Habra, Calif., and Janice de Francesco of Alta Loma, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

His parents, son Ryan Dwain Neustrom, and brother Larry Neustrom preceded him in death.

A memorial fund has been established with Dickinson County Hospice. Donations to it or to charities of the donors’ choice may be made in care of the funeral home, 404 S Broadway, Herington KS 67449-3038.
