Elda Esther Mellott, 92, died Sept. 20 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.

She was born Oct. 1, 1918, to Henry B. Schmidt Sr. and Eva (Hiebert) Schmidt. She was a homemaker.

She married John Mellott on April 7, 1937.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

She is survived by a son, Richard Mellott of Peabody; two daughters, Joan Jost of Hillsboro and Esther Brooks of Peabody; a sister, Mary Hiebert of Whitewater; a brother-in-law, Robert Hansen of Hesston; a sister-in-law, Cornelia Schmidt of Emporia; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral was Saturday at Peabody Christian Church, officiated by Pastor James Pohlman. Visitation was Friday at Baker Funeral Home in Peabody. Interment was at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

A memorial fund has been established with Peabody Christian Church.
