Elizabeth Snelling

Elizabeth “Betty” Snelling, 70, of Marion, died April 3 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.

Born Jan. 6, 1940, in Rockdale, Pa., to John and Elizabeth (Murphy) Scheivert, she graduated from Eddystone High School in 1957 and earned dietitian certification from Wichita Vo Tech.

She married John Snelling Sept. 14, 1958, and they moved to Marion from Aston, Pa.

She was a retired dietitian from St. Luke Hospital and former owner and operator of Chuck Wagon Café in Florence.

Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, John Jr. of Hampton, Va., and William of Gering, Neb.; three daughters, Marjean Neve of Leavenworth, Nadine Bolling of Pahrump, Nev., and BethAnn Penner of Ogallala, Neb.; two sisters, Kitty Applegate of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., and Marie Taylor of Greensburg, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Zeiner Funeral Home in Florence.

Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.

Memorial funds have been established with Parkside Homes of Hillsboro and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of the Zeiner Funeral Home, PO Box 6, Marion 66861.
