These radio dispatches to Marion County firefighters and emergency medical technicians were monitored in the seven days that ended at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

July 5

10:22 a.m. — Marion ambulance transported a 90-year-old female having shortness of breath to St. Luke Hospital.

12:50 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters and ambulance were called for a small hay bale on fire, threatening a wheat field a quarter mile north of Jade Road on 160th Road.

3:24 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance responded to Emprise Bank, 104 E. Grand Ave., for a 45-year-old man who was dizzy and felt as if his heart was racing. The patient declined transport.

6:41 p.m. — Marion ambulance transported a 15-year-old female receiving intravenous fluids from St. Luke Hospital to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Marion at 10:01 p.m.

7:32 p.m. — Marion’s second ambulance transported a 45-year-old female receiving intravenous fluids from St. Luke Hospital to Newton Medical Center. The ambulance was back in Marion at 9:50 p.m.

July 6

10:57 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance made an emergency medical transfer from Hillsboro Community Hospital to Wesley Medical Center. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 2:07 p.m.

6:24 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance and Goessel first responders were summoned to Bethesda Home, Goessel, when an 87-year-old male visitor fell and suffered a possible head injury. He was transported to Newton Medical Center. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 9:09 p.m.

Thursday

4:05 a.m. — Marion ambulance made a medical transport from St. Luke Hospital to Wesley Medical Center. The ambulance returned at 7:31 a.m.

2:27 p.m. — A 17-year-old female was transported by Marion ambulance from Emmanuel Baptist Church to St. Luke Hospital for an evaluation by Prairie View.

Friday

8:58 p.m. — A police officer requested Florence ambulance to respond to the 200 block of W. Fifth St. in Florence for assistance. No patient was transported. However, the ambulance did communicate via telephone with St. Luke Hospital.

11:10 p.m. — Peabody fire and ambulance were summoned to a report of a vehicle on fire just west of Peabody on U.S. 50.

11:12 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance, Durham fire and Durham first responders were sent to half a mile south of Durham on K-15 for reports of smoke from a car in a ditch. Two young males initially reported to be in the vehicle were not there when emergency personnel arrived at 11:20 p.m. The last of the summoned emergency personnel were released and had returned to their stations by 11:51 p.m. An occupant of the vehicle was located by Sheriff Rob Craft at 11:59 p.m. and taken to the Hillsboro ambulance station to be checked. Treatment was refused, and the sheriff proceeded to the jail booking area.

SATURDAY

1:48 a.m. — Florence ambulance responded to reports of a 43-year-old female suffering chest pains, vomiting, and profuse sweating in the 400 block of W. Eighth St. in Florence. The patient refused transport and reportedly was taken to a hospital by private vehicle.

4:51 p.m. — Lincolnville firefighters were paged to respond to a planned wheat stubble fire that got out of control at 280th and Vista Roads. After apparently insufficient response to the page, Lost Springs firefighters were summoned. Two were en route when dispatchers informed them at 5:05 p.m. the reporting party thought the fire was out. Firefighters arrived and appeared to verify this at 5:18 p.m. They were back in their station at 5:36 p.m.

9:51 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was paged to respond to the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. in Hillsboro for a 31-year-old female with a sudden headache who was feeling faint. After no response was received, at 9:53 p.m. Marion ambulance was sent on the call instead. After some delay in finding a second responder in Marion, the ambulance departed for Hillsboro at 9:59 p.m. and requested assistance locating the address. A Hillsboro EMT offered at 10:06 p.m. to serve as a first responder. Emergency personnel reached the scene at 10:09 p.m. At 10:24 p.m., Marion ambulance reported that the patient would not require transportation to a hospital. The Marion ambulance returned to its station at 10:47 p.m.

SUNDAY

1:28 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance and Durham first responders were paged to Kanza and 280th Roads for a 53-year-old male with lower back pains. After dispatchers were notified no responders were available in Hillsboro, Tampa ambulance was paged to the call at 1:29 a.m. Durham first responders were re-paged at 1:30 and 1:31 a.m. Tampa ambulance departed for the address at 1:37 a.m. and arrived at 1:47 a.m. The patient was transported to Newton Medical Center at 1:58 a.m., arriving at 2:51 a.m. The ambulance left Newton, en route back to Tampa, at 3:18 a.m.

5:30 p.m. — Goessel firefighters were paged to a possible structure fire on 80th Road. Firefighters first on the scene told others to disregard the call at 5:51 p.m.

MONDAY

12:19 p.m. — Marion fire and ambulance were dispatched to a mile north of K-150 on Bluestem Road for a field on fire. Firefighters were at the scene from 12:36 to 12:54 p.m. and returned to the station at 1:07 p.m.

1:46 p.m. — Marion fire and ambulance were dispatched to 170th and Wagonwheel Roads for a field that caught fire because of a swather. Crews were on the scene from 2:01 to 2:29 p.m.

2:31 p.m. — Hillsboro fire and ambulance were dispatched to 240th and Diamond Road for a controlled burn that got out of control. Firefighters were on the scene at 2:46 p.m. The first units were released at 4:44 p.m., and the last units at 5:10 p.m. All were back in their quarters by 5:53 p.m.

2:34 p.m. — Marion fire was dispatched back to 170th and Wagonwheel for a second fire. Firefighters were back on the scene from 2:37 to 2:52 p.m.

3:08 p.m. — Marion fire and ambulance were dispatched to 210th Road east of Zebulon Road for a controlled burn that got out of control. Firefighters remained on the scene until 4 p.m. and were back in their station at 4:28 p.m.

3:24 p.m. — Ramona fire and Tampa ambulance were dispatched to half mile east of Tampa on 330th Road for a fire from a swather. Tampa firefighters also were summoned at 3:31 p.m. Train travel along tracks nearby was halted at 3:41 p.m. Firefighters returned to their station at 4:14 p.m.
