According to fire and ambulance transmissions, monitored by the newspaper:

april 28

3:16 p.m. — Marion ambulance responded to the 100 block of Washington St. for an elderly male with shoulder pains who was reported to have a history of cardiac problems. Marion firefighters were paged to provide lifting assistance. No additional calls indicating a destination were recorded by the newspaper’s system. The ambulance reported back at the station at 4:19 p.m.

5:33 p.m. — A man in his 80s who had previously suffered a hip fracture and was reported to be in intense pain was transported by Hillsboro ambulance from the 200 block of S. Birch St. to Hillsboro Community Hospital. Hillsboro firefighters provided lifting assistance.

april 29

9:23 a.m. — A dispatcher directed Marion ambulance to “a residence on Cedar St.,” for a non-emergency transport to St. Luke Hospital, indicating someone was en route with the address. A Marion EMT radioed the hospital that they were transporting a man who needed blood work but was unable to go to the hospital by private vehicle.

11:04 a.m. — A Life Team helicopter landed at Peabody Elementary School for a school event. A transmission at 1:03 p.m. as the helicopter departed included the sound of an unspecified number of children shouting “Thank you!”

11:44 a.m. — Marion ambulance responded to Hilltop Manor for a woman who fell. The woman was not transported.

12:23 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance and firefighters were dispatched to the 200 block of E. F St. for a woman who fell and needed assistance getting up. The woman was not transported.

12:55 p.m. — A man in his 80s who was vomiting was transported by Peabody ambulance from the 300 block of N. Olive St. to Newton Medical Center.

2:49 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transported a patient from Hillsboro Community Hospital to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

9:21 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters responded to the 500 block of E. B. St. for a smoke alarm. It was determined the alarm was triggered by smoke from overheated food in a microwave.

Thursday

4:21 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transported a “code blue” patient, a term used to describe a patient in or near cardiac arrest, from HCH to an Eagle Med helicopter at Hillsboro airport.

8:55 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance and Goessel first responders were dispatched to the 600 block of E. Marion St. in Goessel for a man who fell. At 9:01 a.m. a first responder reported the man was uninjured, and the ambulance response was terminated.

9 a.m. — A woman with arm pain was transported by Peabody ambulance from the 700 block of N. Poplar St. to St. Luke.

1:07 p.m. — Marion ambulance transferred a patient from St. Luke to Wesley Medical Center.

1:50 p.m. — A man who fell and hit his head at Marion Ampride was taken to St. Luke by Hillsboro ambulance.

10:10 p.m. — A dispatcher directed a law enforcement officer to respond to a “possible suicide” in the 600 block of W. Third St. in Hillsboro. An ambulance was dispatched at 10:12 p.m. At 10:26 p.m. an officer requested a coroner be sent to the scene.

friday

10:10 a.m. — An elderly woman at Bethesda Homes who was feeling ill was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

10:58 a.m. — An infant having a possible seizure in the 200 block of E. 5th St. in Florence was transported by Marion ambulance to St. Luke.

12:25 p.m. — Marion ambulance transported a patient from St. Luke to Wesley Medical Center.

3:15 p.m. — A man with chest pains at the Florence city office was transported to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

10:51 p.m. — Peabody ambulance responded to the 700 block of N. Locust St. for a man who suffered cuts falling into some glass. The man was not transported.

saturday

6:57 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance and a law enforcement officer were dispatched to the parking lot at Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, after a truck driver whose vehicle struck the building twice was reported to have been slumped over the truck’s steering wheel. The officer reported the driver “seems alert and oriented.” No transportation was provided.

9:33 p.m. — A woman with abdominal pain was transported by Hillsboro ambulance from Parkside Homes to HCH. At 12:24 a.m. Sunday, an EMT reported the ambulance was en route to Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.

sunday

4:07 a.m. — A woman who felt clammy and was in pain was transported to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

8:25 a.m. — Florence ambulance and Burns first responders were dispatched for a possible death at a residence along US-77 near Burns. A coroner was dispatched to the scene at 8:50 a.m.

10:26 a.m. — A woman under hospice care who was unresponsive but breathing was transported by Hillsboro ambulance from the 400 block of S. Washington St. to HCH.

2:07 p.m. — A patient at HCH was transported by Hillsboro ambulance to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita.

8:04 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance responded to Parkside Homes for a man who fell. EMTs examined the man and another resident for an unspecified reason. Neither were transported.

monday

7:38 a.m. — Goessel first responders and Hillsboro ambulance responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident on K-15 north of 150th Rd. The driver was reported to be out of the car and walking around. The driver was not transported.

12:13 p.m. — An infant who was not breathing in the 600 block of S. Cedar St. was transported to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. A Life Team helicopter landed at the hospital at 12:58 p.m. and departed for Emporia airport at 1:33 p.m.

5:38 p.m. — Goessel firefighters responded to a barn on fire west of the intersection of 130th and Diamond Rds. Peabody and Hillsboro firefighters were dispatched to provide mutual aid, but the calls were terminated at 5:58 p.m. when Goessel firefighters reported the fire was under control.

8:05 p.m. — A woman who fell at a residence on Rose Ln. at the county lake was transported by Marion ambulance to St. Luke.
