These broadcasts regarding fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper.

AUG. 15

10:13 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke Hospital was taken by Marion ambulance to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

12:22 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

aug. 16

11:19 a.m. — A woman who fell in the 500 block of Cedar St. was examined by Marion ambulance, but declined to be taken to a hospital.

7:55 p.m. — An elderly woman who was bleeding after falling and striking her head was taken by Hillsboro ambulance from Parkside Homes to Hillsboro Community Hospital.

9:03 p.m. — A elderly man who fell at a resident on K-15 between 150th and 160th Rds. declined to be taken by Hillsboro ambulance to a hospital.

9:09 p.m. — A fire at E and 5th Sts. in Ramona was reported as threatening a house. Ramona firefighters discovered a small fire in some trees that was away from any structures and extinguished it.

10:17 p.m. — A woman in her 20s who was reported to have taken an unknown amount of painkillers was taken by Hillsboro ambulance from the 300 block of Lincoln St. to HCH.

thursday

1:51 a.m. — Three fire departments battled a house fire on 240th Rd. west of the intersection of Zebulon and 240th Rds. for more than three hours. Marion, Lincolnville, and Florence firefighters and Marion ambulance responded. Dispatchers reported the house was unoccupied, but warned that there were “several thousand rounds of ammo” inside the house. No incidents involving exploding ammo were reported.

3:18 p.m. — A semi trailer on K-150 two miles east of the US-56/US-77 roundabout was reported to have had a brake fire that was out. Marion firefighters were dispatched.

5:16 p.m. — A hay bale fire in a field near the 800 block of W. Grand St. in Hillsboro was extinguished by Hillsboro firefighters.

6:50 p.m. — A teenage boy on a four-wheeler was struck by a vehicle at 290th and Nighthawk Rd. As Tampa first responders and Marion ambulance were en route, dispatchers reported the teenager felt sore but did not appear to be otherwise injured. The boy was checked out and was not taken to a hospital.

7:14 p.m. — A Lehigh firefighter called dispatchers to request the department respond to a small fire on W. Marion St.

9:27 p.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Marion ambulance to Wesley Medical Center.

11:30 p.m. — While en route back from Wichita, Marion ambulance was contacted by a dispatcher who asked if they were aware of an “allergic reaction call with possible airway at HCH.” When ambulance personnel requested confirmation of the hospital, the dispatcher directed them to St. Luke. Marion ambulance arrived at St. Luke at 12:28 a.m. and took a patient to Newton Medical Center.

friday

3:03 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis in Wichita.

7:30 a.m. — A person in their 80s with low blood pressure was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH.

12:47 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance, Peabody rescue, and Goessel fire responded to 120th and Indigo Rds. for a vehicle that went off the road but did not roll. When EMS director Ed Debesis arrived on scene he canceled Peabody rescue and Goessel fire responses. No one was transported from the scene.

2:24 p.m. — A medical alarm in the 700 block of S. Lincoln St. was determined by Hillsboro ambulance to have been set off accidentally.

3:16 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance responded to the 300 block of N. Main St. for a man in his 60s who fell. As Hillsboro firefighters were paged to help lift the man, ambulance personnel reported the man’s condition as “code red.” The man was taken to HCH.

3:40 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke Medical Clinic was taken by Marion ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis.

6:28 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance reported it was en route to Wesley Medical Center with a patient. No dispatch was recorded.

9:47 p.m. — Goessel first responders and Hillsboro ambulance were called to the 200 block of W. Main St. in Goessel for a teenage boy who got hot sauce in his eyes and mouth. The boy was not taken to a hospital.

saturday

4:08 p.m. — Peabody ambulance was dispatched to Florence to check an individual who had been involved in a high-speed chase that originated in Butler County and ended in Florence. As the ambulance reached Florence at 4:21 p.m., a dispatcher terminated the call, saying medical attention was not needed.

7:03 p.m. — Goessel firefighters assisted McPherson County emergency responders with a rollover accident at 29th Ave. and Comanche Rd. in McPherson County.

Sunday

1:34 a.m. — An individual who could not get out of a chair at a residence on K-15 between 150th and 160th Sts. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to St. Luke.

12:08 p.m. — A Hillsboro ambulance crew member requested an ambulance for a woman in her 80s at Parkview Church whose condition was described as “code yellow.” Hillsboro ambulance responded. Additional information could not be determined due to garbled transmissions.

7:15 p.m. — A dispatcher paged Tampa ambulance, Tampa first responders, and Tampa rescue for a rollover accident on Nighthawk Rd. between 280th and 290th Rds. A Tampa responder radioed the dispatcher to recommend Lincolnville first responders be paged, and Marion rescue inquired if the call was actually in their assigned rescue area. Tampa fire reported they were bringing two brush trucks and a pumper. A first responder reported that no one was trapped in the vehicle. One individual was taken by Tampa ambulance to HCH to be checked out.

monday

5:35 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis.

9:43 a.m. — A woman in the 500 block of E. Grand St. reported her dryer made a loud pop and smelled like something was burning. Hillsboro firefighters determined the sound was a breaker being tripped, and no fire was discovered.

10:23 a.m. — A patient at HCH was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Kansas Heart Hospital.

3:04 p.m. — A medical alarm company advised dispatchers of an alarm going off at 109 County Rd. in Tampa. Responders could not find a house with that number. A responder reported he was going to try to get into a locked unnumbered house, and another asked if he needed tools. The dispatcher then reported hearing from the alarm company that the address was an old one, and that the woman requesting the ambulance lived in the 400 block of Columbus St. Tampa ambulance responded to the updated address and took the woman to Herington Municipal Hospital.

7:30 p.m. — A man in his 30s who had been bedridden in the 100 block of E. Crane St. in Lost Springs was taken by Tampa ambulance to St. Luke.

8:20 p.m. — A man in his 20s who fell and was experiencing leg pain in the 400 block of N. Ash St. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH. Hillsboro firefighters helped lift the man.
