Grandchild engaged

Rick and Collette Erickson of Chapman announce the engagement of their daughter, Kate Erickson, to Clint Thornton, son of Steve and Sandy Thornton of Russell.

Grandparents of the bride-to-be are Howard and Beth Collett of Marion, Marjorie Erickson of Herington, the late Leland Erickson, and the late Marjorie Collett.

Grandparents of the future groom are John and Evelyn Thornton of Chase, Charlie Nicholson of Chase, the late Betty Thornton, and the late Shirley Nicholson.

A graduate of Chapman High School and Kansas State University, the bride-to-be is a freshman communications teacher at Junction City High School. Her prospective husband, a graduate of Russell High School and Ft. Hays State University, is a wildlife biologist for Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.

A small family wedding is planned for Sept. 30 at Milford Lake. A reception will follow Oct. 2 in Abilene.
