Eunice Klein

Eunice Geis Klein was born Oct. 16, 1916, at Durham. She was the daughter of Ed and Leah Geis. She grew up on the farm near Durham with siblings Quentin, Lois, and Betty.

She was a graduate of Durham High School and later attended business college. She married Edward Klein on Aug. 2, 1941. They had one daughter, Kathy. They cherished 56 years of marriage before his death on July 3, 1998.

Eunice was a homemaker and farm wife. She enjoyed gardening and canning fruits and vegetables. She loved to bake; her specialties were breads, rolls, pies, and bierocks.

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she was active in King’s Daughters. She was a member of the Jolly Workers EHU of Pilsen.

She moved to Lenexa in 2004 to be near her daughter. Eunice passed away Nov. 12, 2013, at Vintage Park Assisted Living of Lenexa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; a brother, Quentin Geis; and a sister, Lois Whitney.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Kathy Cannon of Shawnee; grandsons, Rob Cannon of Olathe and Chad Cannon of Overland Park; great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Emery Cannon; and a sister, Betty Meier of Newton.

Eunice was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her life was defined by her faith and love for her family, who will cherish her memory until they are together again.
