Evelyn Friesen

Former teacher and postal worker Evelyn L. “Ev” Friesen, 101, of Inman, died Friday at Pleasant View Home.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at North Inman Cemetery, Inman, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Home Chapel, Inman.

Born Aug. 13, 1915, to Elizabeth (Klein) and John L. Loewen in Hillsboro, she graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Sterling College, where she received a teaching certificate.

Evelyn was an elementary school teacher, advertising salesperson, writer for the Inman Review, and Inman postal worker for 20 years.

She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Inman.

She married L. Walter Friesen on June 10, 1939, at Hillsboro; he preceded her in death, as did sisters, Linda Loewen and Malinda Frank, and brothers, Elvie and Wesley Loewen.

Survivors include daughters Ann Buzenberg of Durham, North Carolina and Patricia Friesen of Leawood; sister Elvina Ediger of Cameron Park, California; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peters United Church of Christ or Inman Public Library.
