Expect a shootout or three

If anyone hears gunfire Saturday during Prelude to the Symphony in the Flint Hills, it probably won’t be because of a dispute about Mozart.

The Cowtown Cowboys of Wichita will present three gunfight re-enactments Saturday on Fifth Street between Marion and Main streets in Florence.

The first, at noon, will depict a bank robbery. At 12:30 p.m. there will be a jail break. Finally, a posse will gather at 1 p.m.

Each performance will last 10 to 12 minutes. Between shows, 16 actors will meet with audience members and reload for the next show. They will wander the town before and after the presentation.

The group will set up building fronts and use replicas of guns from the 1870s, including the famous Colt Peacemaker revolver.

Blanks fired by the guns will be just as loud as their real counterparts.
