The current Farmerettes gathered at noon Dec. 9 at the home of Myrta Bartel for a catered Christmas dinner to celebrate their 70th anniversary.
Attending were Myrta Bartel, Gladys Buller, Letty Enns, Carol Flaming, Nellie Jost, Irma Koop, Leona Koslowsky, Edie Ollenburger, Ruth Ann Penner, Darlene Schmidt, and Wilma Schmidt. Pauline Harms was absent.
They reviewed scrapbooks of past activities and reminisced about their favorite events. Farmerettes was organized as a Home Demonstration Unit with the Kansas Extension Service out of Manhattan in 1941. The members have enjoyed informative meetings, at times inviting special speakers, taking educational tours or drawing from talent within the group. Each member taking her turn to host a meeting in her home.
The executive committee, composed of Bartel, Koop, and Penner, hosted the occasion.
