FCCLA members attend conference

Members from Marion High School’s Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America Chapter traveled to Webster Conference Center in Salina Aug. 30 and 31 for the annual Take AIM (Active Involved Members) Conference. New members, chapter and district officers, peer education teams, and state officers were among the many in attendance.

Karly Hess attended as a new member. She attended three sessions facilitated by Rhett Laubach. Session one focused on being an active member. Members learned about different FCCLA events and how to make the best of their FCCLA years. The second and third sessions were focused on becoming an involved member and an active member. In these sessions, members learned about leadership and becoming a team member.

Another group in attendance was the chapter and district officers. Shayla Rahe represented Marion High School at the Officers’ Training Sessions facilitated by Patty Hendrickson. At these sessions, officers were prepared on how to lead members throughout the year and had the opportunity to share fundraising and chapter activities with each other.

Peer education teams and state officers also attended. They had an opportunity to share their workshops as well as serve as leaders for the new members.

Myrta Billings attended an adviser session with Dustin Galyon who inspired and motivated them for a new school year. Advisers had the opportunity to network with one another and brainstorm new ideas for the year. Kansas alumna RanDee Platt led a discussion about national events including STAR events. She served as an intern this past summer in the national FCCLA office in Reston, Virginia.
