Fernetta Mae Bitner, 84, formerly of Wichita, died Sept. 27 in Marion.

Born Feb. 24, 1926, near Canada, to Albert and Mable (Christensen) Matz, she was a homemaker and operated a day care.

She married Austin K. Bitner on March 5, 1944, in the Lutheran parsonage in Marion.

Her husband and a brother, Clifford Matz, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Dan of Wichita and Tony of Carrollton, Texas; a daughter, Virginia Druse of Lawrence; a brother, Delbert of Aurora, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services were Thursday afternoon at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion.

Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and the church in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion.
