FFA announces award winners

Members of Marion/Florence FFA Chapter were recognized Thursday at the organization’s annual Parent/Member/Employer Banquet.

Ryan Jones received the Chapter Star in Agribusiness. Jacob Cope was recognized as Star Chapter Greenhand.

Certificates of appreciation were given to Straub International, PrairieLand Partners, Inc., Robin Taylor, Hillsboro Industries, Cindy Ragland, Cooperative Grain and Supply, Pat Ash, Carlsons’ Grocery, and Gambino’s Pizza.

Special recognition was given to Larry and Donna Kukuk for more than 20 years of service to the chapter. Mary Griffith also was recognized for providing 20 years of service as a female sponsor, and her assistance in judging public speaking contests and students with presentations.

Mike Thomas and Mark Meyer were named honorary chapter FFA degree recipients.

Kansas FFA President Garrett Lister was the featured speaker.

The chapter presented a PowerPoint show of the year’s highlights.

Proficiency awards were given.

Danny Hett, grain production proficiency; Sam Ehrlich, beef production, entrepreneurship division; Adam Cope, beef production, placement division; Shayla Rahe, swine production, placement division; Clark Kroupa, diversified ag production, entrepreneurship division; Jacob Cope, forage production, placement division; Cara Martin, equine science, entrepreneurship division; Jones, turf and landscape management, entrepreneurship division; and Andrew Huber, specialty animal production, placement division.

Chapter sweepstakes winners were: 1. Hett. 2. Aaron Molleker. 3. Jacob Cope. Greenhand Recordkeeping Award: Rahe.

Election of officers was held for the 2010-11 school year. They are president Adam Cope, vice president Mitch Ragland, secretary Jessie Taylor, reporter Jacob Cope, treasurer Rahe, and sentinel Derrick Dvorak.
