FFA members know insects

Marion/Florence FFA members competed at the South Central District entomology event March 26 at Buhler High School.

The team placed third after completing a written test over insect characteristics, life cycles, habitats, food preferences, control, and economic significances, and identified 50 specimens.

A.J. Cogdill placed ninth individually. The greenhand team placed second with Nathan Baldwin placing first, Ezra Darnall placing third, Jeremy Hett placing sixth, Taylor May placing ninth, and Bryce Shults placing 10th.

First year team members competing were Kaitlyn Goebel, Daniel Hinton, Taylor Pontious, Peyton Heidebrecht, William Holt, Krisde Robinson, and Seth Savage.

Students also competed in the agronomy contest and placed fourth overall in the A team division.

Those individually placing were Nick Meyer, who placed first, and Clint Kroupa placed sixth.

Five FFA members also attended the statewide leadership conference March 21 and 22 in Junction City. Those attending were Aidan Cairns, Kaitlyn Goebel, Cade Harms, Elizabeth Meyer, and Nick Meyer.
