Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism caught and tagged a channel catfish and a bluegill for Marion County Park and Lake’s new fishing derby. Anglers can enter the derby at the lake office. Cost is $3 for one species or $5 for both. Whoever catches the tagged fish will receive 70 percent of the entry fees for that species. The derby will last until both fish are caught or for two years, whichever comes first. Plans originally called for a largemouth bass and crappie, too, but appropriate fish could not be tagged.
