AREA LAKES

Marion Reservoir (Thursday)

CHANNEL CAT: Fair, up to 10 pounds, can be caught on shallow windblown shorelines with nightcrawlers or liver.

WHITE CRAPPIE: Slow, 8 to 12 inches, anglers are reporting tough fishing for crappie this week.

WALLEYE: Slow to fair, up to 25 inches, walleye are being caught off the points and also are being found on the flats. Drifting a jig and crawler or pulling spinners with crawler harnesses works well this time of the year. Trolling larger crankbaits is also a good way to find active fish.

WHITE BASS: Slow, very little white bass activity reported recently.

WIPERS: Good, up to 24 inches, drifting or slow trolling live bait or jigs. Spinner rigs are also producing some nice fish. Casting jigs or crankbaits in shallow, windblown areas is also productive.

Marion County Lake (Monday)

CHANNEL CAT: Good, spawning, up to five pounds, worms, livers, and prepared baits, found in flats and shadows.

WHITE CRAPPIE: Fair, up to 12 inches, jigs and minnows in the brush and deeper along the dam.

LARGEMOUTH BASS: Good, up to 18 inches, plastics or crankbaits near cover.

SAUGEYE: Good, up to 18 inches, jigs and crawlers off points and shallow flats.

BLUEGILL: Good, up to 8 inches, bluegill are biting readily on worms and small jigs or spinners.

WHITE BASS: Fair, up to 14 inches, crank baits and spinners.

WIPERS: Fair, up to 24 inches, live bait, jigs, or spinners off points.

WALLEYE: Good, up to 25 inches, jigs and crawlers off points and shallow flats.
