To the Editor:
Our Marion community came through again by giving four pickup loads of canned food, paper goods, pasta, and a wide variety of other items. These items will be used by families who have to rely on Marion County Food Bank.
As a food bank volunteer, I want to say that I am proud and grateful to live in a community where people are so giving and caring for those who need a hand because of illnesses, lay-offs, or paychecks not being sufficient to cover gas and medical needs.
A huge “thank you” to Marion Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for their work in going door-to-door to deliver and pick up sacks from residents. They also were a big help in sorting the many items in boxes.
Last but definitely not least, were the many scout leaders and parents who drove, carried, delivered, and stocked our shelves at the food bank.
Valley United Methodist Church very graciously allows us a room in the church for this ministry. All utilities are paid by the church. The church also provides space to store extra food.

To the Editor:
The Marion Boy Scouts would like to thank everybody who donated food for the Marion County Food Bank.
The scouts are planning a campout on Friday, Oct. 17. We are planning on having a flag retirement ceremony during the campout. The flags will receive an honorable and respectful retirement.
We are collecting flags for this retirement. If you have a flag that needs to be retired you can deliver it to Brookens and Collett Law office, the high school office, or David Richmond at Marion Manufacturing.
