George Goossen Jr., 81, died Oct. 1 in Hillsboro.

He was born April 30, 1930, to George J. and Marie (Nickel) Goossen in Goessel. He was an electrician.

He married Lorena Pankratz on July 21, 1950. She preceded him in death in 2009.

He is survived by his son, Keith Goossen of rural Peabody; two daughters, Kathy Woelk of rural Newton and Sandra Blackmore of Newton; a sister, Gladys Thiesen of North Newton; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

His funeral is at 2 p.m. today at Grace Bible Church in McPherson with Pastor Richard Duerksen officiating. Burial will follow at Doyle Valley Cemetery in rural Goessel. The family received guests Tuesday at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
