George King

Graveside services for George Irwin King, 89, Wichita, who died April 28 at Founders Crest Nursing Home, Wichita, were May 2 at Washington City Cemetery.

Born Dec. 19, 1928, to Irwin S. and Leona (Baldwin) King at Delphos, he graduated from Linn High School in 1945. He and Ruth Gladys Dodd were married Nov. 19, 1950. The Kings lived in Park Forest, Illinois, before relocating to Wichita in 1973.

King was in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the electrical power industry building substations.

He was an outdoorsman, woodworker, antique piano and furniture restorer, and volunteer Red Cross driver.

An infant daughter, Sharon Kay King; three granddaughters; brother, Gerald King; and a sister, Colleen Cox, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; sons, Steve King of New Albany, Indiana; David King of Piney Flats, Tennessee; Dennis King of Wichita; Mark King of Hillsboro; and Kevin King of Portland, Oregon; 11 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

A memorial has been established for American Red Cross.
